Pulsar 2 - Display

Description:

Pulsar 2 is a fast, professional microprocessor charger. It can charge any type of accus fast and safely, without overloading (current up to 9.9A). The Reflex function helps to prevent the so called memory-effect in Ni-Cd and Ni-Mh accus. Pulsar 2 extends your accu packs lifetime. Various methods of end of charge h identification (Inflex, Delta Peak low & high, adjustable maximal value) protect against overloading. All parameters are displayed on backlit LCD. After connecting to your PC, you can control the entire process in real time, and print or save the results as well. The archive function gives you full control over your accu packs exploitation. Charging curves control makes bad accu recognition very easy (now, you know, when to replace a bad accu or to use the regeneration function). Pulsar 2 is equipped with return of energy to the main (car) supply accu. This means a more economic operation. 8 memories of processes and programs are available to save your settings. The end of charging and the alarms are signalized by display lighting and / or by acoustic signals. An external temperature sensor and a socket for an external cooling fan (for battery packs) are available too. Pulsar 2 is protected against excessive output voltage raises. It also provides safe charging of battery packs in RC transmitters (ie: Multiplex Royal Evo)

Why is Pulsar 2 a better choice?

The Pulsar 2 charger was designed by RC-model pilots for RC-model pilots, knowing about the importants of reliable RC-model power supplies. Exceptionally high requirements set for accu packs in our hobby, like fast charging, maximum in reliability and longest possibly life time were the main drivers for the Pulsar 1 design. During the 3 years of Pulsar 1 production, it’s designer gathered important responses and input from users. This lead to the Pulsar 2 design. The most advanced method of charging control was incorporated. The Inflex function with its very precise measurement of the charging voltage accurately prevents overloading of Ni-Cd and Ni-MH accus. This method is applicable only when charging with constant current and therefore does not allows full automatic charging.  Full automatic charging programs inherit some quite big measurement range errors due to the undefined resistance of connectors and soldering. This is the reason why the Pulsar 2 requires to set some parameters manually. But the memory function helps to keep this effort to the minimum because every setting for different packs can be saved in Pulsar’s internal memory and can be recalled. The only input left is the number of cells and the charging current if required.

When charging with the Inflex mode, the Delta Peak detection is used as additional protection as well as the temperature measurement and accu pack capacity limitation.

Reflex charging is a method to prevent the so called memory effect. Here charging is frequently interupted by discharge impulses.

The Format and Regeneration mode takes care of old and new accus. Pulsar 2 provides a fast charging of Li-xx packs. It’s a new method allowing to reduce the charging time extensively. This mode even saves time when charging packs still having 50% state of charge (depending on accu numbers and internal resistance). This Fast charge mode in unique to the Pulsar 2.

In addition Pulsar 2 measures all parameters during breaks in charging to prevent against voltage converter noises and internal, chemical noises of the accu cells. The charging current is raised slowly at the beginning of the charge and decreased slowly near the end of charging to gain a 100 % state of charge.

Those are just a few examples, how many great ideas were implemented in this advanced charger.

The Pulsar 2 Software can be updated to adjust to any new requirements in charging technology. This ensures you will never be out of date with the Pulsar 2.
